We process applications Tuesdays through Fridays and we will email you with any questions or concerns we may have. WE CORESPOND THROUGH EMAIL. PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL TO SEE WHAT THE NEXT STEPS ARE IN THE ADOPTION PROCESS. Please allow us time to process applications and we will get back with you to let you know what you need to do for your next step as soon as we can. Through the virus that is spreading across the United States, it may delay the processing time of the applications. If you fill one out and you haven't heard anything, you can call us at the number above or email the adoption team at adopt@heartofthefoothills.org. To fill out an application please click on the link below the pictures. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Adoption is an option

We strive to make the adoption process as memorable as possible. We hope to match all our potential adopters with the perfect pet that can be and will be a lifelong friend.

If you are interested in an animal that you see online, you can visit our adoption center and meet the animals we have on-site. If you are interested in an animal that is foster care, you will need to have your application processed and approved before we can set a meet and greet.  YOU CAN NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS TO THE ADOPTION CENTER WITHOUT AN APPROVED APPLICATION OR PERMISSION FROM THE DIRECTOR OR HER STAFF. When we do approve your application, we want to make sure that the animal is fit for your family and your family’s needs. When we adopt, we want you to have a new best friend and a new family member, we want it to be for life.

We process applications daily. Please allow 1-2 business days to hear back. We will either call or email the applicants to let them know the outcome or if we have further questions to help assist us in completing the process.

Once the application is processed and approved, we will set up a meet and greet with and the animal you are adopting.

We do offer a trial adoption for those who aren’t sure how the animal will do in their home and want to take time with the animal to see how he/she adjust. We also offer a foster to adopt for animals who are still undergoing vetting and are not ready to be finalized. The trial adoptions are granted for one week, we do extend them for those who feel they need a little more time. WE DON’T ACCEPT ANY PAYMENTS UNTIL THE ADOPTION IS FINALIZED.

Things to Know Before  You Adopt

All animals adopted through Heart of the Foothills are spay/neutered, tested for disease (heartworm in dogs, FIV/FeLV in cats), up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and treated for parasites (flea/heartworm/worms).  We encourage you to go ahead and submit an application for the animal you are interested in, so we can get you approved even if all the medical has not been completed. Once you are approved, we can discuss what options might be best for you and the animal you are planning to adopt. POTENTIAL ADOPTERS MUST BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OLD TO FILL OUT AN APPLICATION

A member of our caring staff or one of our trained volunteers will guide in steps you can follow when taking your new pet home and helping him/her adjust to the new environment. Please feel free to always reach out and we will gladly assist you in any way we can. So animals may take more time than others when it comes to adjusting, one of the biggest keys is to have patience.

Once you have given the animal adequate time to adjust and you feel that it just isn't working out, feel free to reach out to us and we do ask that you return the animal to us.

Our adoptions fees are as follows:

  • $250 – Puppies (6 months & under)

  • $150 – Adult Dogs (Over 6 months)

  • $80 – Kittens (6 months & under)

  • $50 – Adult Cats (Over 6 months)

Our animals receive a great deal of care before they are available for adoption so that we can make sure you get a healthy, vaccinated and spayed/neutered pet.  Those costs add up and the adoption fees are used to pay for the medical costs we incur.

If you have any other questions please email us at adopt@heartofthefoothills.org.
